Returning to Campus.
What it Means for You.

We are excited to be entering Block 2 and thank everyone for the commitment exhibited by each and every member of the Prescott community to understand and follow protocols designed to mitigate risk of COVID-19.

We're so glad you are here!
Following is some information about what to expect.

Promoting a Safe Campus

Prescott College is committed to creating a safe learning community. Utilizing guidance from the CDC, government agencies and the college’s Guiding Principles, we have implemented a number of initiatives to keep our community safe. We are all in this together and ask for your commitment to doing your part in reducing the potential spread of COVID-19..

Prescott College is asking community members to exercise certain precautions prior to arriving on campus including some of the following steps. Take steps to limit your exposure to COVID-19 anytime you plan to be on campus.

  • Physical distancing
  • Frequent hand washing
  • Monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms

Traveling to Prescott Arizona

  • Wash your hands often
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Keep six feet of distance from others
  • Wear a mask when in public
  • Carry and use sanitizing wipes to clean surfaces you come in contact with
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Avoid dine-in restaurants and large gatherings

Important Considerations

Do not travel to Prescott College if you have COVID-19 symptoms (cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell), have in the past 14 days been in close contact with someone suspected or confirmed as having COVID-19, or if you are confirmed or suspected as having COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

All students will be required to complete daily self -screening and temperature checks upon arrival.

Information for Parents and Families

As a parent or family member of a new or returning Prescott College student we know that you play an important part in the success of your student. Here are a few things you can do to make sure that you are working to help prepare your student before the Fall term starts.

Planning Ahead

We've created a planning document to assist you and your students in thinking about their health and well-being this year. One of the most important things you can do is make sure they have all information they may need for the term ahead at their fingertips. Take a few minutes and use this worksheet to talk with your student about your safety plan for this year. If you fill this form out encourage your student to print it out and bring it with them as part of the Quarantine Kit.

Getting Access- FERPA is the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act. This Act was put in place to protect students' privacy over their educational information. What this means is that if your student is over 18 years old there are several educational records that we cannot share with you without their permission. Before the term starts is a great time to talk with your student about completing a release form that would allow the institution to share information if it becomes necessary. You can find the form hereUpon completion, please return the form to the Registrar's Office at registrar.prescott.edu.

Housing

Students who plan to be joining us for the first time in the Fall of 2020 can expect to live in a single room for the duration of the term. We will be utilizing not only the Village complex but also our on-campus cottages and additional off-campus housing. Most students will only share a bathroom with one other person. For resource information for returning students for housing contact heather@rentrightproperties.com or call 928-771-0308

Community Responsibilities

Masks
Employees and students will wear masks at all times in public spaces and when 6 feet of physical distance cannot be maintained. Prescott College will supply each on-campus student and employee with one cloth PC branded mask.

Please visit these CDC sites for information on face coverings:

Physical Distancing
One of the best tools we have to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19 is by keeping space between you and others. The virus can be spread by individuals before they know they are sick and for that reason, it is important to maintain distance from others. Physical distancing should be practiced by all, especially to help protect those who are at a higher risk of getting sick. When on campus, everyone should follow these physical distancing practices:

For more information regarding Physical Distancing please check out this
Physical Distancing information from the CDC.

  • Stay at least 6 feet from other people at all times
  • Do not attend gatherings or large events
  • Avoid physical contact with one another
  • Avoid anyone who appears to be sick

If you have had direct contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 and you have been exposed or if you have tested positive for COVID-19, please complete the COVID-19 Self-report Form.

Hand Washing
During the COVID-19 pandemic washing your hands is one of the most effective ways to help prevent the spread.
Click for more information on the effectiveness of washing your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water.

Structural Mitigation

Campus Signage
Prescott College has developed and will post signage to aid in mitigating the potential spread of COVID-19 from handwashing to capacity limits in campus spaces. Please adhere to the signage posted on campus.

Building Access
Building access restricted to Prescott College students and employees. Visitors to campus will need to make an appointment. Hand sanitation stations will be placed at the entrances to buildings and in high traffic flow areas

Transportation
Students and employees utilizing vans for transportation during courses will wear face coverings while seated next to each other. Vans will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between uses with approved products.

Click
here for information related to Prescott College Transportation Policies.

Cafe Services
Cafe services will be provided with take out service available. There will be no buffet style options and outdoor seating will be arranged to ensure physical distancing.

Classrooms
When possible, Prescott College classes will maximize opportunities to hold classes outside. Indoor classrooms have been physically arranged to maintain 6 feet of distancing, disinfecting and cleaning protocols are aligned with the CDC and facilities replaced our HVAC filters to an enhanced filter standard that removes much smaller particles including 75% that are in the range of air-bourne viruses. In addition to these protocols, each class offered in the block will have its own classroom to itself.

Community and Mental Health Wellbeing

Contact Tracing and Testing
When necessary, the college’s medical advisor will work with the institution to provide testing and contact tracing. Students may be tested prior to participating in courses and as advised by CDC regulations

Mental Health
Mental health services for students will be offered virtually and at times face to face with the appropriate protocols. Appointments can be made with Tony Himes (928-848-1111) or Melissa Rauch (928-771-8115).

Employees will continue to utilize EAP services. Please contact Human Resources for more information.

Health Clinic
Prescott College will work with the colleges medical advisor to provide health clinic hours. The hours for the health clinic will be posted August 21.

Returning to Work

As additional on-campus services and functions become essential to prepare for the return of on-campus students, plans for additional on-campus essential workers will be approved and communicated by Senior Leadership Team members with input from supervisors.

Employees who are
high risk or live with someone who is high risk may request accommodations. To request accommodations please contact Susan Krause at susan.krause@prescott.edu.
